The cell theory is one of the basic principles of biology. 

It was first proposed by the german scientist Theodor Schwann, Matthias Schleiden, and Rudolph Virchow.

The cell theory states that all living organism are composed of cells, that are the basic unit of life, and cells arise from pre-existing cells.
